Members of ISHAD had a pioneering work towards NOTA (None Of The Above) option in the Ballot. Earlier, which as considered as a toothless reform saw the day of light with an Executive order for A) Re-Polling if the NOTA option scores above all the candidates (SEC, Maharashtra) and B) NOT allowing the earlier candidates to contest the subsequent election if they are rejected in case of Re-Polling in a constituency (SEC, Haryana). In fact, the State Election Commission adopted both the recommendations proposed in the study conducted by the University of Mumbai.

The next stage of reforms/policy recommendation at this stage shall be c) that the electoral expenses for the elections to be charged on such candidates who are rejected by the voters.
